I have a Blackhawk Serpa Level 2 Holster that is a great retention holster. However, its use is limited in the Spring and Summer months of Florida since a jacket would be stifling. This is a nice summer holster.
Constructed of cowhide suede with a reinforced opening, this holster is comfortable and stable. The plastic clip works for pants with and without a belt. There is more stability if you have a belt, as you draw your weapon. The Glock 23 is a compact gun and is the biggest gun that you can carry and still feel relatively comfortable (I can try to conceal my Para P-14 14+1 1911 pistol but with an attached magazine, it’s a touch thick, and a tad too heavy to be practical).
Reholstering the weapon is possible but be careful. I recommend practice trying it, unloaded, before you singe your flesh from an accidental misfire. The fit is snug from the factory but is easier to remove when it is broken in. Drawing the weapon is smooth and quick, and the clip adds stability to your pants/trousers. I have tried this at the 2:00 Appendix carry and the 4:00 carry and the 4:00 is better tolerated if prolonged sitting is required.
The only drawback is the plastic clip that shows when you have an untucked microfiber shirt. It is less obvious with knit shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts or baseball shirts/sports jerseys.
It’s a solid option for summer carry.
