While the Glock light/laser is on the expensive side, I believe you will find it worth it once you have used it. The flashlight portion of the light is amazingly bright and will temporarily blind anyone except perhaps someone who is outdoors in bright sunlight wearing sunglasses. For anyone in a dark or dimly lit room, it is sure to cause temporary blindness for up to 20 seconds (This is my guess, since I did not try this on anyone because of potential harm and I would not want to establish a “safe” time that anyone would use in a potential life threatening situation). The laser portion of the light is easily seen in any indoor or outdoor lighting. Obviously, its visibility is reduced by increases in ambient light.
I have this laser/light mounted to a Glock 19 which has a very short rail below the barrel on which the light mounts securely. Once the laser is “zeroed in” (an easy process) it remains so, no matter how many times the light is removed from the rail. There are three usable operating modes: 1) Light only, (2) Light with laser and 3) Laser only. A small switch at the bottom of the unit determines which of these three operating modes has been selected. There is also a spring action on/off switch which will turn the light on when you temporarily need it by just holding the switch down. A little extra pressure on the switch will turn on the light on until adequate pressure is applied in the opposite direction to turn the light off permanently. I like this set up as opposed to the other Glock model which is effectively a brightener/dimmer switch. Either way, the on/off switch is easily operated by a two hand grip on the pistol.
Lastly, this unit appears to be pretty tough. It has survived roughly 500 rounds with no perceivable impact on its accuracy or the life of the bulb. The gun does tend to make the light lens cloud a bit from the barrel dust/smoke after extended firing. This is easily cleaned.
There may be other brands of laser/light combos on the market with better or similar performance. I have not tested those in comparison. I can only say that I am perfectly satisfied with my Glock unit.
