Sound amplification was great if you like to hear the gravel crunch under your feet retrieving you target.
Makes a good hearing aid but doesn’t protect your ears.

I am learning how to shoot a handgun and was in search for a good set of ear muffs because I am very jumpy and hearing gun fire makes me jump. I bought these based on the reviews. However, I was disappointed with them. They do not cuff my ear very well. The biggest disappoint was that the sound of the gun fire was not muffled anymore with the ear muffs turned on than when they were turned off!!! While my friend fired 380, 45, and 40 calibur weapons, I would turn them on and off to see if there was a difference and there was none! I was expecting a noticable difference.
On the plus side, the sound enhancement worked well and I was able to hear my friend talking w/o having to take them off and I could turn them up and hear leaves rustling. So that part works well.
These are probably the cheapest ear muffs of this type so i guess you get what you pay for. I am contemplating returning them and getting a pair of Peltor Optime 105 H10A which is rated for 30 decibels. I got a pair for my son and though I haven’t taken them to the range, they did reduce more sound than these as far as general noise in the room. They are more comfortable and fit my ears well. Plus they are only $20.

After owning 2 pairs of Peltor Comtacs, these feel cheap.
The mics don’t pickup well and have quite a bit of hiss on the high end of the volume.
Sound cutout isn’t very crisp.
Not too bad for ~50, hopefully they will last longer than some of the other reviews I found online.

Just purchased two pairs of these hearing protection manly because I can’t hear and need the amplification while hunting. This product works great. If you need amplification of your surroundings this is the way to go. The first time i used them it actually scared me a bit. You can hear birds flying and every snap of every twig(i could hear deer eating corn at 75 yds!!).It makes every sound seem like it is right next to your head. The volume switch is easily adjusted (with gloves it is a little more difficult). There is a little white noise in these, however after wearing them for a few minutes you don’t notice it any more, that’s why I did not give them a five star rating. They are like most muffs and take a while to get used to the fit, but now I can wear them for hours with no trouble. I hunt with a .308 with a 22 in. barrel so its pretty loud. These muffs cut the noise of a single shot fine but for extended shooting (ie. range) where you are going to be shooting multiple shots a set of plugs fit nicely under the muffs and you can still hear conversations.
I would recommend this product to my friends. This is a product that will be in the range bag as well as the hunting bag for years to come.

I am required to wear hearing protection on my job. These earmuffs work great because not only do they block out the noise but I plug in my I-pod so that I can listen to music. They have a control to balance between the noise and music. I am very happy with my purchase.
