The riser was purchased to get my scope eye piece off the charging handle of my picitanny rail equipped rimfire rifle. With this riser, I can zero my scope, set the eye relief distance correctly, and removed it easily. You can finger tighten or mechanically tighten the thumbscrews to secure this riser to your existing rail. For M4 style rifles, this is just the ticket to use large objective lens scopes.
